Privacy Policy
Last updated: 18 October 2026
DrivCheck Ltd respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect when you order a vehicle history report on drivcheck.co.uk, why we collect it, how we protect it, and the rights you have over your data.
1. Who We Are
DrivCheck Ltd ("DrivCheck", "we", "us") is the data controller for personal information processed through drivcheck.co.uk. We provide vehicle history reports for cars, vans and bikes in the United Kingdom, delivered by email.
For any privacy question or request, contact us at info@drivcheck.co.uk.
2. Information We Collect
- Order details: your full name, email address, phone number, full address, the vehicle registration or VIN, and the selected vehicle type.
- Payment confirmation: the payment status, method, transaction reference and amount — sent to us by our payment provider. We never receive or store your full card details.
- Contact messages: the name, email and message content you submit through the contact form.
- Technical records: minimal server logs (such as IP address and timestamps) kept for security and fraud prevention.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To create and process your order and deliver your report by email.
- To verify your payment and prevent fraudulent transactions.
- To provide customer support, including re-running checks for incorrect registrations.
- To keep required business and accounting records.
- To improve the website and keep it secure.
4. Legal Bases for Processing
We process your data on the following bases under UK GDPR: performance of a contract (delivering the report you ordered), legitimate interests (payment verification, fraud prevention, service improvement), legal obligation (retaining accounting records), and consent where applicable (for example, if you choose to hear about new services).
5. Payments
Payments are handled by our external payment processor through a secure hosted checkout. When you pay, your card details are entered directly into the provider's secure hosted fields — they are never shared with us, and we do not see or store them on our systems. We only receive a confirmation of the payment and a transaction reference.
6. Sharing Your Information
We never sell your personal data. We share it only with the parties needed to run the service:
- Vehicle data providers — to compile the history report for the registration you requested.
- Payment processor — to take and verify your payment securely.
- Hosting and email service providers — to run the website and deliver your report.
- Authorities — where we are legally required to disclose information.
7. Data Retention
We keep order and payment records for as long as necessary to deliver the service, handle support and refunds, and meet our accounting and legal obligations — typically up to 6 years for financial records. Contact form messages are kept only as long as needed to resolve your enquiry.
8. Your Rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, request rectification of inaccurate data, request erasure where the law allows, restrict or object to processing, request portability of your data, and withdraw consent at any time.
You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk if you are unhappy with how we handle your data — though we would appreciate the chance to fix any issue first, so please contact us.
9. Cookies
This website uses only minimal, functional cookies and browser storage needed for the checkout and language preference to work. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.
10. Security
We apply technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encrypted (HTTPS) connections, access controls, and payment handling entirely by an accredited external processor. No method of transmission is 100% secure, but we review and improve our safeguards regularly.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The latest version is always published on this page with the "last updated" date shown at the top.
12. Contact
For privacy requests or questions, email info@drivcheck.co.uk and include your Order ID where relevant. We aim to respond within 2 working hours during support hours (Mon–Sat, 9am–8pm).
